Con il termine evoluzione sociale viene indicata una teoria che intende spiegare come le società, intese come gruppi di individui interagenti o mutuamente dipendenti appartenenti alla stessa specie, si sono sviluppate durante la loro vita.
Involuzione?!!
Nel 1967 venne pubblicata la versione italiana dell’Uomo a una dimensione. L’ideologia della società industriale avanzata di Herbert Marcuse.
Si trattava di una sintesi tarda di temi trattati nel 1924 quali :
- denuncia del carattere totalitario della società capitalistica;
- la interiorizzazione della repressione nella personalità dei suoi membri;
- la famiglia come istituzione nella quale genitori e figli vengono educati e si auto-educano a subire passivamente, quanto ad esercitare brutalmente, l’autorità nella vita sociale;
- la connessione intrinseca tra la razionalità tecnologica e la logica del dominio.
Siamo nel 2020 in pieno Covid-19 e l’antitesi tra i due termini Evoluzione – Involuzione personalmente non mi pone di fronte a dubbi amletici sul pensare quale sia la direzione che l’essere umano ha DECISO di intraprendere.
Un passaggio di un grandioso intervento di Lord Sumption (Jonathan Philip Chadwick Sumption, Lord Sumption, OBE, PC, FSA, FRHistS (born 9 December 1948), is a British author, medieval historian and former senior judge.) in tema di Covid-19 mi spinge ad una ulteriore riflessione. Siamo sicuri che la gestione di questa epidemia, non certo la più micidiale delle tante pandemie che hanno messo alla prova l’uomo o lo metteranno ancor più duramente a confronto con una paura atavica, quella della morte, sia il segnale del progresso e tutela dell’essere umano? E’ tutela dell’essere umano mantenerlo in vita impedendogli di VIVERE? :
Eppure, i governi hanno adottato, con il sostegno dell’opinione pubblica, le misure più estreme e indiscriminate. Abbiamo sottoposto la maggior parte della popolazione, giovane o anziana, vulnerabile o in forma, alla detenzione domiciliare a tempo indeterminato. Ci siamo impegnati ad abolire la socializzazione umana in modi che portano a un disagio inimmaginabile.
Abbiamo dato alle forze dell’ordine poteri che, anche se rispettano i limiti, creeranno un modello di vita autoritario del tutto incoerente con le nostre tradizioni. Abbiamo fatto ricorso alla legge, che richiede una definizione esatta, e abbiamo bandito il buon senso, che richiede un giudizio.
Queste cose rappresentano un’interferenza con la nostra vita e la nostra autonomia personale che è intollerabile in una società libera. Dire che sono necessarie per fini sociali più ampi, per quanto preziosi possano essere, è trattare gli esseri umani come oggetti, meri strumenti di politica.

Are we sure that the management of this epidemic, certainly not the most deadly of the many pandemics that have put man to the test or will confront him even harder with an atavistic fear, as death is, is the signal of progress and protection of the ‘human being? Is it protection of the human being to keep him alive by preventing him from LIVING? :
Yet governments, with the support of public opinion, have adopted the most extreme and indiscriminate measures. We subjected the majority of the population, young or old, vulnerable or fit, to indefinite house arrest. We are committed to abolishing human socialization in ways that lead to unimaginable unease.
We have given law enforcement powers that, even if they respect the limits, will create an authoritarian life model that is completely inconsistent with our traditions. We have resorted to the law, which requires an exact definition, and we have banished common sense, which requires judgment.
These things represent an interference with our life and our personal autonomy which is intolerable in a free society. To say that they are necessary for wider social purposes, however precious they may be, is to treat human beings as objects, mere instruments of politics.
